Tamarind Hill – Galle

Later still, Tamarind Hill became a judge’s residence, at which time the punkahs in the drawing-room were installed. Tamarind Hill has 11 rooms and 2 suites, replete with twenty-first-century facilities that never obtrude on the traditional elegance and charm of your surroundings. Victoria – Galle

Victoria is a beautiful 5 bedroom villa set in a coconut grove on the beach with landscaped gardens overlooking the Indian Ocean and located only 8 kms from the historic town of Galle. Built by a leading Australian architect for himself, Victoria is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional Sri Lankan house furnished with antique doors and furniture. Enter the property through a large garden area and float across the lily pond which opens into a large, comfortable banquette sitting area with stunning views.


Apa villa – Galle

Historic Illuketia is one of Sri Lanka's most storied plantation houses. Just 5km from Apa Thalpe and Galle, the expansive house is almost 200 years old, a living reminder of the island's colonial past. Thouroughly modernised but retaining its ancient flavour, Illuketia boasts four suites in the main house and the two in the adjacent Pond House, overlooking a lotus lake. Sanda Kirana – Galle

Sanda Kirana, literally meaning Moonbeams, is a beautiful 4 bedroom beach house facing south west across the Indian Ocean and located just 5 kms from the historic Galle Fort. Designed by a leading Australian architect, you enter the property through a large garden area with steps up into the house through impressive double doors, revealing walled gardens and opening up to the magnificent view of the breaking waves of the Indian Ocean. The central feature is a large swimming pool, all furnished with colonial furniture. With on the other side is a covered verandah overlooking the garden at the front of the villa, strewn with coconut trees and sloping down to the beach which often features in paradise brochures.


If villa – Galle

IF Villa is characterized by space and is very private. Beach hut – Arugambay

Though it is world famous, the most significant thing is the absent of star class hotel in the area. Out of popular surfing joints, Ranga's Beach Hut stands tall among the visitors to the area. Ranga's Beach Hut started its operation in 1989 with just a restaurant and two Cabanas. After all these years of terrorists threats and 2004 tsunami, the Hut developed into a popular seafood place and now with 7 Cabanas and six standard rooms.

The resort is now in full operations and a massive refurbishment is under way to cater to the influx of tourists to Arugam Bay, after the liberation of East.

'I am certain that the golden beaches of Arugam Bay will soon be another 'Hikkaduwa' and the arrivals have gone up since last few months' said Ranga Krishnarajan, the proprietor with much hope.

The service at Ranga's Beach Hut is homely. The food delicious, offering the catch of the day straight from the Bay beach, fish, jumbo prawns, king crabs, cuttlefish and lobsters are the name of the day. It makes up the mouth watering menu in addition to the usual Western and Eastern cuisine. Guests are also offered pure curd made of fresh milk available in plenty and fresh fruits at Arugam Bay.

Ranga's Beach Hut offers a host of tourist attractions. It lies midway between two popular National Parks, Lahugala National Park and Kumana Bird Sanctuary, which is the eastern border of Yala National Park. Lahugala is only13 k.m. and Kumana Bird Sanctuary is only 30 km from Ranga's Beach Hut.

A host of heritage sites and ruins dating back to the 5th century are in close proximity to the resort.
They are traditional Panama village, Magul Maha Viharaya Mudu Maha Viharaya and Kudumbi Gala Hermitage, the Oakande Rock and Hindu temple, which is said to be the spot where Sindbad the Sailor ended up after a ship wreck.





Lansiya – Tangalle

lansiya is being developed as a place where lovers, family, and friends can come together and spend valuable time bonding, playing, and relaxing. lansiya is private and exclusive. The bay has a couple of other exclusive villas, and a small ancient village adjoining it. The beach is considered crowded if there are more than five people on it. The area is still un-spoilt by development, and has an old world charm about it.

From the balcony you can watch birds of prey hunt, watch Mynas fight for bugs on the lawn, and Woodpeckers knock on coconut trees. Kadju house – Tangalle

Shower under a Frangipani tree, luxuriate in a cinnamon-walled spa or stroll down the hill to the beach. Kadju House is serene, relaxed and intimate. Overlooking a pristine crescent-shaped beach, the house offers four en-suite bedrooms, an Ayurvedic spa and an infinity pool with sweeping sea views. The design blends a simple tropical aesthetic with modern luxury. The four full-time staff includes a gourmet chef. The house is located in a cashew grove just outside the fishing village of Tangalle and close to nature reserves and temples.

Olanda house – Galle

Olanda Beach House, Galle, was renovated 6 years ago and extended in a charming and sympathe11tic manner. The 1-acre coconut grove remains untouched but immaculately clipped lawns and pretty Araliya (frangipani) trees lead to the sandy beach for Safe swimming and barbeques. The main villa has an open, white pillared design with high ceilings and terracotta flooring. The wrap-around verandah is furnished with planter’s chairs and rattan chairs and occasional tables. You can sit in the verandah by day looking out to the sea or under the star filled skies at night. This splendid Villa comes with 4 unique double bedrooms with en-suite open roofed bathrooms and private gardens, Master bathroom with a double bath, Separate dining pavilion, beach terrace, Pool terrace, kitchen, staff quarters, laundry room & four staff members - cook, room boy, Gardner & night watchmen, well trained to make your holiday perfect, they will baby-sit your kids if you like and want them too. Wadugewatta – Galle

Designed by the British owners themselves, Wadugewatta is a spacious and airy beach villa that is immersed in tropical gardens leading to a secluded beach. Hidden away in the grounds there is a further building housing an Ayurveda clinic that the British owners have developed for the benefit of the surrounding village community. At the clinic, an experienced Ayurvedic physician provides curative treatments for children, adults and the aged. There are separate Ayurveda facilities for the use of guests staying at the beach villa. Relax in a hammock by the sea, dine outdoors under the trees or immerse yourself in the ancient healing wisdom of Ayurveda.
